Dear Chess players and Supporters of my tournament,
Last Saturday we had our first Ealing Rapidplay for the year of 2010.
Open section won by Jovica Radovanovic , who scores 4.5 out of 5. Second place has been shared by local boys from Ealing Chess Club and regular active supporters Alan Perkins and Tserenbat Lozvoi both with 3.5 points.
As you know we launched a new U165 section in our tournament and first winner was Hristo Colov with 4½ points. The runner-up was John Torrance with 4.
U130 section won by a new commer Nitin Barhanpurkar from Hounslow, who scored 4.5. Tony Bynnersley AG, one of our active supporters scored 4 points out of 5 and secured the 2nd place.
Grading prize winners were:
U180-shared by Iain Bourne and Ronnie Cohen
U140-Victor Bluett
U100-Robert Burns
Best Junior prize shared by Tharshan Kuhendiran and Ananth Vijayakumar.
I received few comments about the possibility to add an amateur section. I think that is possible if we have enough entries, specially Juniors into U130 section, than I can run U95 section with prize money. I can confirm that depending on the number of entries next (February 20th) tournament.
Also many of you asked me WHY I have only 5 round tournament?
Firstly, the Church Hall was available only till 5pm Sunday’s.
Secondly, my tournament is new therefor we do not have big enough number of entries, YET, where it will required to play round No. 6 to have a clear WINNER of the tournament.
When time comes I will consider to run one more i.e 6th Round.
